How far is the Moon from the Earth? Check it out...

Okay, so... the distance between the Earth and the Moon is around 240,000 miles. Sort of tough to comprehend exactly how far that is, until you check out this photo, taken by the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft, which is scheduled to intersect with an asteroid in August of this year. The picture was taken on January 2, when the spacecraft was about 3 million miles from Earth.

To give you an idea of how far 240,000 miles is: you could line up every other planet in the solar system (including Pluto, despite what Neil DeGrasse Buttervoice Tyson thinks) side-by-side, and there'd STILL be a little room left.
