Now, I LIVE in Los Angeles, and I recognized this shot as being a part of Marina del Rey, located just south (well, technically, southeast) of Venice Beach.
So we did a little investigating on our own, and, lo and behold, we not only found the location... but discovered that it's actually named on Google Maps!
Okay, cool! I'm thinking I've got to visit this location - check it out. There's probably a sign on it designating it as the location for the show for all the gawking tourists.
So I make the 13-mile drive from my house to look over this iconic structure, and what do I find?
It's owned by Loyola Marymount University!
According to their website:
The Jane Browne Bove Boathouse was completed in 2002 as the new home of Loyola Marymount men's and women's crew. The facility includes two boat bays, a work area, an office, a new dock and restrooms. The boathouse is part of beautiful Marina del Rey, Calif, and is home to the men's and women's crew teams.Okay, sorta cool, but a bit of a disappointment. Not a hint of international intrigue or LL Cool J pretending to be an ex-Navy Seal.
Sigh.
