Two brothers have developed differences between themselves, and thus have decided to part ways. The problem is that they have one big patch of land that is irregular in shape. Both of them want an equal share, which is virtually impossible, given the fact that the land could be divided in equal halves, due to its irregular shape.
The wisest man in the village is called, who then tells the brothers a way in which both of them will be happy, even though the land might not be divided into exactly equal halves.
What was his suggestion?

He simply suggested that one of the brothers be allowed to divide the land, but he must take into consideration that it will be the other brother who will have a choice of selecting his land between the two halves first.
(SKIPNOTE: This is exactly the method I used with my two sons when they were little if they had one candy bar to share. One would cut it in half, the other would get first pick.)
