Tunesmith Tuesday - "Shout" by Otis Day and the Knights

"Shout" was originally released in 1959 by the Isley Brothers, and became their first Gold single.

Since then, the song has been covered by Joey Dee and the Starlighters, Lulu, Tommy James and the Shondells, and the Beatles.  Even Alvin and the Chipmunks got in on the action.

MY favorite cover of the song, however, was by Otis Day and the Knights, from the 1979 movie Animal House. To this day, the song is regularly performed at both Dartmouth College (upon which the Animal House story was based), and the University of Oregon (where the movie was filmed).
